D2V Entertainment is an award winning film production company based in Adelaide, South Australia. D2V Entertainment was founded by Stephen de Villiers in 2014 as the production vehicle behind his latest short film, Super Sounds. Building on the success of that film, D2V Entertainment was officially incorporated in 2015 and is currently developing a slate of short and feature films.
Stephen de Villiers is a South African born, Australian based writer/director with 15 years’ experience in the film industry. He is a graduate of the Australian Film Television and Radio School (AFTRS) and his filmography lists 11 short films, one short feature and two documentaries. Among these are his award winning and internationally distributed Commando, a period piece Boer War drama and Super Sounds, which has internationally at over 25 film festivals and won Best Film and Best Director at the Fleurieu Film Festival 2016.
As a director, he is privileged to have worked with some of South Africa and Australia’s top actors, including Ian Roberts (Tstosi), Sean Cameron Michael (24, Black Sails), Leanna Walsman (Star Wars, Ep 2) and Socratis Otto (Darwin’s New World). Past festival highlights include screening as part of the Short Film Metrage at Cannes, while Super Sounds has screened at a number of top film festivals, including Giffoni (Italy), Sequence Court-Metrage (France), Flickerfest (Sydney), Byron Bay and the San Francisco International Film Festival.
D2V Entertainment is currently collaborating with award winning Adelaide production company, Epic Films on a feature film adaptation of Commando, Deneys Reitz’ journal of the Anglo-Boer War. The film is an epic adventure survival tale and is slated for production in 2017.
CURRENT PROJECTS
Super Sounds
In a quiet coastal town, a young aspiring superhero meets a curious young girl. Afraid she’ll see him for who he is, the boy avoids her at all costs. The girl reaches out and in the end, events come crashing to a head and the boy is given the chance to act like the superhero he dreams of being.
Super Sounds has gone on to screen at over 25 festivals both locally and internationally, has been selected by Virgin Airlines as part of their in-flight entertainment package and has won 3 awards.
Commando
Based on a true story, Commando tells the story of 6 isolated Boer soldiers, who embark on an epic and life-changing 2000km odyssey deep into enemy territory as they seek to reunite with their comrades. Their courage, endurance and sense of duty are all tested as they battle the enemy, the elements and their own beliefs and sense of duty, while each of them moves to a deeper understanding of why they fight and what they hold dear.

WHO'S BEHIND IT
Stephen de Villiers
Founder/DirectorBorn and raised in South Africa, but proud to call Australia home, Stephen is a filmmaker with a proven story instinct and passion for creating compelling content. A graduate from the directing course at AFTRS, he has directed over 12 narrative films with his work selected to screen many prestigious international markets and festivals. His directing work has taken him all around the globe, from New York to Japan and many places in between.
